    Engine Failure HELP!

    Guys I need help....

I was driving my 94 S2 ABY today and i did a third gear pull, when i was about to hit the rev limiter there was a poping sound and the engine cut out.... It dident shut off. So i cheked the oil presure and everything seemed fine, So i shifted in to sixth gear and slowly started to exelerate and when the turbo would hit about .2 bar the engine would cut out....
i pulled over and shut the engine off, i then cheked under the car to see if there was anything leaking, every thing seemed fine so i continued my journey, After i turned the car off and back on the engine stoped cuting out.
Now i have a boost leak, But it still dosent explain the engine cutting out.

Dose anyone know what tis coud be???

It explains exactly why your engine cut out!
You have a boost leak, ECU cuts fuel due to
    Implausable mass air flow .

Boost is high enough to split a hose, especially if they are original.

Hopefully it’s just a hose, and not something more expensive.

Rig up a boost leak test, if you don’t have kit ?

Post up what it turns out to be for the forum’s collective information.

        Best wishes.

Worth mentioning that boost cut is violent, very violent! easy to confuse with something major breaking

              Guys I figured it out..
I dident have a boost leak.. I live at sea level and I was going up a mountain road. When I was about to hit the rev limiter in 2nd gear a boost cut happened, witch freaked me out.. (Turbo Noob)
Well the explanation a friend of mine that is a specialist in Audi and VW eletrical systems gave me was, Since my car has a after market Ultimot "Chip" the car did not adapt to the elevation changes quik enough. So when I was at high RPM the car cut out..

              Mods:
              Ultimot chip
              RS2 injectors
              RS2 inter cooler
              RS2 intake manifold
              Polished and ported head
Full 3in stainless turbo back exhaust
              RS2 shocks and springs
              Custom intake
Running 1.5 killos of boost on stock turbo

The chip should have been reading the F96 Altitude Sensor and compensated better:

Stock turbo and RS2 injectors and random chip? Oh dear.
Sorry to say, but a stock properly remapped car is quicker than yours and you have wasted lots of money achieving pretty much nothing performance wise.

You need to upgrade the turbo, get bigger injectors and a proper remap to make use of your hardware.

Also that explanation you received from your "tech" is complete and utter BS.
You have a boost leak or your MAF/connector is letting go.

Congratulations with a very fine car. I also have the Ultimot chip, but not much else uprated. I get the cut out from time to time at high revs, and thus I try to avoid that, until I have a better/safer mapping. Paul Nugent/S2central.net and PRJ have been mentioned among others as well suppliers of maps. Thay both have good reputation. Sorry if I leave someone out who deserves to be on the list.

I have heard that Ultimot chips must be fed high octane (98-99), it doesnt adapt well to 95. You risk knocking and damaging the engine if you use 95.

With the changes to your car, I'd suggest a proper rolling road mapping - I'm no expert, but generic chips must have problems when a lot is not OEM specs.

If your car still cuts out at low boost, something must have blown. Boost test and readout of error codes is first measure.
                        Cheers, Torben
