RS2 Turbo with a cracked hot side

I may be able to buy an RS2 turbo with cracks in the hot side casting number

5326 101 7388 d, there are no other faults that I am aware of.

Before I go and buy a lemon could the turbo knowledgeable people please offer some advice?

Can you buy just a new hot casting for an RS2 Turbo and fit it.

If you can where can I buy one.

Can you open out the S2 hot casting to work with the rest of the RS2 Turbo?

The rest of the turbo appears ok.

I bet it's been running fine with some cracks and they were only noticed when it was taken off the car. I bought a new hotside for mine and it came in at about 180 GBP.

There are two cracks going diagonally from the exhaust towards the cold side.

So you can buy a new original hot side casting?

Yep the owner only saw the cracks when the head gasket failed and they removed the turbo and manifold.

So were can I buy the casting?

They are a lot more than that now as I'm sure AET confirmed in another post there is very limited stock of them worldwide

Welding cracked castings can be done.

The rod you use and the heating up of the casting and the cooling all play a part in a successful outcome.

Welding is an option but I would prefer to buy a new casting.

email sent to Turbo Dynamics waiting for a reply.
