    Headgasket replacemant

how did anyone fair out with cleaning of the block during headgasket replacement ? wouldnt like to remove head to find i need to get block skimmed, pitting/corossion ect.. car is steaming and spitting water. also split steel pipe that runs along p/s of engine. both bleed points ane not opening wich tells me previous owner was doing it often. its either gasket or a craked head as its doing it when warm, just around the 50 deg mark. no oil in water or vice versa, just steam and spitting water. bummed . any input welcome.

Only one way to know for sure. I have seen blocks corroded to the point they needed machined but generally its just the gasket itself at fault.

Block should be decked and head skimmed anyway, if the HG is gone.

If its ******ed you might as well pull it and look. Agree it would be best to deck etc, but have done a couple with just a clean up ok (head was not removed due to a headgasket issue though).

If its spitting water out of the exspansion tank it will most likely be the head that will need skiming and pressure testing.Corrosion is another possibility caused by the wrong antifreeze,or none a tall.Deck needs to be checked for corrosion ect.
