    boost controller

Hi guys, i'm new here, keep up this excellent forum. I just bought my loved S2 from Edinburgh and drove it all the way to Malta I have a question, I got a turbosmart eboost2, can anyone please direct me how I can fit it ? The car is totally standard, no chip or anything except a hyperflow filter replacing the airbox. Could it be done without affecting anything negatively ? Thanks in advance.

Welcome along, IMHO put that thing on ebay and get a new home for it. Send your ECU to PRJ on here to safely extract more ponies.

By going the route that many of us have gone you can diagnose running issues in the future because the car's setup will be familiar to many others.

Thanks for your reply. I was just thinking of tweeting a bit around with the boost, but I was a bit scared I'll mess something up. How much bhp you think I'll gain by just a remap ? At what stage will I need bigger injectors and turbo ?

230 up to 280 ish with only a remap.

More than that and it's all down to how much cash you have really.

You can get about 280bhp with a chip, really good bang for buck. After that it gets a bit more expensive. RS2 route for about 360 is turbo, injectors and exhaust manifold (fuel pump?), most people also do intercooler, and downpipe.

you will get 280-285 hp with a remap, dont bother messing about, just get it
done properly. As above message prj on here, he will sort it out for you.

Also, Remove that hyperflow filter and put the standard airbox back on it,
all it will be doing is sucking hot air in thus lowering the power from standard.

Thanks guys. How much realistically can the bottom end hold before going to new forged pistons and rods ? My plan was to enjoy it a bit with minor expenses and then do it well with dta etc

You're good up to RS2 plus levels (say 380 crank hp) and probably 400 hp without touching the internals, assuming that they are good now.

Some say the internals are good up to 500bhp, providing you have it mapped properly! the biggest concern for the internals will be your torque figure

Thanks for the info. How much boost does a standard s2 normally have? This one is doing 15psi, you thunk it's stock as by the book ? I feel it quite quick for 230bhp

edinburgh to malta....now theres a road trip....

15psi sounds about right.....as mentioned before get the ecu chipped and fit a boost gauge, if it hasn't already got one..

It's the first time I own a 5 cylinder, it feels quick. Even vs my mate's Mitsubishi evofq320, his is quicker on launching but I catch up and surpass him very easily. Edinburgh to Malta, loads of fun, cos I didnt come down straight, I drove Edinburgh-dover ferry, landed Calais, drove through Belgium, to Holland, to Germany, to Prague, to Austria, to Slovenia, to Italy, to Malta. Had some work in Prague, so I took it as a road trip and the S2 was fine all tthrough the 5000kms was funny in Dresden Germany at the fuel station, this German guy came talking to me in deutsche !!##!! All I understood was S2 and him waving his gold card ! Bad luck

Boost controller will not work because ECU will just cut fuel.
Internals are OK up to about 30 psi on standard head, but ECU will need working knock monitoring and it has to be mapped right.

If you are fitting a standalone without any knock functions (like DTA), then definitely do the rods... Even for mild outputs.

Can a boost controller be mapped for/with? e.g. ecu is mapped for maximum boost and then the boost controller can be used to reduce boost.
