It has indeed been covered 1000 times but here's a few pointers -
Secondhand conversion kits come up and start at around the £1000 mark.
Turbo is RS2 specific but there is a Volvo k24 7400 turbo that some have used.
Turbo, manifold, injectors and modify your ECU are minimum requirements. Exhaust and IC are also a good idea.
Make sure your car has the metal head gasket and that it's all in good condition.Cheers'en, AndyC

Tempted. I have ex. manifold, 3" from turbo and the head have been serviced not too long ago.
Injectors and turbo is 250.000 km's old, so maybe its time for a bit more power when any of said parts die.
Damned - the urge never dies, does it?Cheers, Torben

IIRC, from the information on here, the 3B exhaust cam is a little different to ABY, so best read up a few 3B to RS2 threads and speak to whoever you are going to get to map it to ensure that you get the right spec. At a worst case, you can fit an ABY exhaust cam, which should be avaialable for little money. Can't remember off the top of my head about the inlet. I was speaking to an RS2'd 3B owner on hte weekend who has stock cams, so it can be done but he's looking to upgrade.
You may want to look into a coil conversion to remove the distributor and then use an ABY ECU with the 'pin swop' mod done (see Rocco's thread on this and I think Newsh was talking about it too, also steveh and prj). This would remove the potential problems that the distributor brings, which are discussed on here in various threads.
Finally, 3Bs are more likely to have the paper head gasket, so you'll have to change that to the later metal one first and so you might as well do the water pump, crank cambelt gear, cambelt and all the inlet and exhaust gaskets, as well as checking the condition of the head and block. Not to change the gasket will more than likely lead to premature failre and thus damage.Last edited by Rusty; 28 August 2012, 18:13.Cheers'en, AndyC

This is relevant to my interests. My 3B is a sick puppy and will likely be getting stripped for extensive work. I've been trying to find a complete guide for a coil conversion/dizzy delete but have stuggled. The site just has too much information sometimes, lol.Comment

I have a 3B s2 and have run RS2 spec, exept cams (I had 7a) but think it would worked fine with stock 3b cams. I have not done any coil conversion eiter, but been thinking about it. If you dont do that conversion make sure you are running the small 11mm rotor and that everything is in good shape.. The thing I did wrong was not to change the head gasket and after 2 months I had to do that job anyway
