    ABY Coil Pack

Wondering where's the best place to buy Coil Packs for an ABY. Audi Dealer in Malta asked 164 euro for each which goes to about 120GBP I suppose

Perhaps someone here may direct me to a better option for original coils?

In the UK GSF were doing them for £90.00, but that probably isn't much help to you... sorry...

I've seen them but I imagine postage will bring it up to the same cost as if I got them direct from the dealer which still has to order them for me

Better get those coils tested and figure out if that's causing my misfire

I'm just about to swap to the EFi Express set...

EFI Motorsport is a company dedicated to providing quality upgrade parts, hardware, software, tuning, and service for a range of European vehicles.

Spoken to several folk running it and all seem happy...

Work well on ABY no trimming, just plug and play?

As I looked deeper into swapping one standard coil, I got more depressed, not only at the cost, and the knowledge the remaining 4 will be 20 years old next year, but also the rewiring of the plugs and the very poor state of all the coil pack wires.

So I thought sod it, I'll bin the lot. From all reports, it's a straight plug in job on the aby and the TFSI coils are about £20. There's a fitting guide on the EFi express site... 034 do a similar kit.

Coil packs off of a Fiat Marea 5 Cylinder fit quite easily with almost no modifications. Since a coil Pack here in Brazil costs around 400 quid as apposed to The Fiat ones that are 75 quid I'm gonna have to switch to those when one of mine go bad...

Hmm...good luck. Can't tell if that is 2, 3 or 4 pin connector. If it is 4 you might as well go VAG 2.5 TFSI coils. If it is 3 pin, then you still have to deal with the Power Output Stages (POSs) and figure out how to work the Fiat coils into the system.

There are proven better solutions that using those coils.

But the problem is that here in Brazil parts import taxes are 60% which is calculated based on the part price and shipping.... So if the Coil Pack costs 140 pounds in the UK it would cost me 250 Pounds here , and being that the one Quid is about 4 Reais (Brazilian Currency) i would be paying 1000 Reais for a single coil pack when the Fiat ones are 120 Reais... About 30 Quid. that's amusing i want to import the Audi coils which could take about 1-2 months of customs bureaucracy... If i want to buy one here i have to go to the dealer and shell out 1500 Reais and wait 1 month for the part to come in from Germany. And i seriously doubt that the VW 2.5 coils would be any cheaper.
A Friend of mine has a 800BHP S2 Avant and hes running all 5 Fiat coil packs. The connectors as far as i know are the same...

The OE Audi coils were just 2 pin power plug ins with trigger connections to the POSs. I would be amazed that the Fiat coils are the same connectors. But hey, if it works for you....

                            With regards to these coils:

Is fitting the 20v ABY Cover oki for cooling? Also, is there anything I should know about plugging in these coils in replacement to the ABY coils? Just a plug and play job I imagine? Wiring seems to be all the same..

Yes,it is plug and play, but, it is recommended to leave the valve cover off,for better cooling.I also,am running Marc Swanson`s EFI coilpack setup.
