1.8tq-avj turbocharger replacement with AAN stock charger

i just bought a new(for me) toy: Audi A4 1.8t Quattro with avj engine code 150hp. beeing an urs4 owner with some modifications on aan engine, i would like to hear some opinions on making this 1.8t more powerful (target ~250hp on safe syde). my question: is that possible to mount the stock urs4 charger(i`ve got 2 in my basement) on this 1.8t engine replacing the k03? beside injectors, soft, larger intercooler and custom downpipes what i would need? what would be the powerband on low revs and high revs?

yes its possible. You need another manifold, intercooler, wastegate like from your urs4...
with that turbocharger you can make 350hp.
The easier way is to buy an p&p upgrade turbocharger like the K04-15 ~ 220hp. (stock injektor, downpipe)

yes i know that the k04 is the easy way(i think it`s bolt on whitout any modifications) but the question is, does the 1.8 engine enough exhaust gases to spin the bigger turbo or i have to rev the sh.t out of the engine to make boost afther a long period of lag?

There is no problem with lag, full boost by 3000 rpm. Tested on friends car, 1.5 bar by 3000 rpm, 1.1 bar on redline. The car has 285 hp, 360 Nm. The car is Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.8T, turbocharger from Audi S2, K24-7000.

beside the charger i`m sure that he made a lot of modifications like exhaust manifold(what kind? made by who), larger intercooler (what dimensions?) injectors(what kind), fuel pump, external wastgate(what manufacturer), fuel presure regulator, oil pump, remap made by who? is it safe at that power range with stock internals? what kind of clutch and flyweel is he using(single or dual mass?)
i`am asking all these questions becouse i want to do it once and want to avoid the mistakes made by others, so if anybody can help with a good configuration witch can be made for a reasonable price. is wellcome to share ideas

            I've got a 1.8t aeb in my 90q
            garret t28 off a 200sx s14
            Cast ebay manifold
            golf vr6 maf
            calibra turbo injectors
            big ebay intercooler
            3.25" downpipe then 3" back
            standard kjet fuel pump
standard audi a4 aeb dual mass flywheel and clutch
4 bar fpr (standard on aeb)
1 bar of boost. Not mapped yet.
Been going strong for about a year now. Rich as hell low down the revs but uptop its 12.5 on the wideband and on par with an evo 8 from 0-top speed. Clutch doesn't like launches but fine other than that

Fantastic budget idea to use the K24-7000 and wastegate if you have those ready in good condition. Sure, a K04-015 would be almost PnP, but if you buy a new one, its USD1000 or more.
If I ever do my 1.8T swap into my 80, I think I might do the same. I have a spare K24 and WG.
I'd rather spend the money on a good standalone (LugTronic VEMS) than a turbo. A custom EM is needed, of course.

Just did a search on google. Plenty of people have already used this turbo on 4 cylinder engines. You could probably find a used exhaust manifold for your AEB/K24 project.

Its a common turbo to use when turbo-ing a 4cyl 16v VAG engine, im sure it would work just as well if not better on the 4cyl 20v

IIRC, if you have a stock AAN exhaust mani, you can chop off the extra runner and reweld it. Not sure if the #1 or #5 runner, though. Even better/cheaper.
