Yesterday I reversed off my drive to get my other car out and noticed water leaking, opened the bonnet and it looked like the top hose had come off the rad but it was the plastic part of the rad that the hose fits on had broken off .
Anybody got a good rad for sale preferably an all metal one
An all metal one would probably mean a Nissens one and they have a reputation for cracking at the bottom due to the weight of the rad (and A/C rad if you have A/C) all going through the single lower mounting.
There's no easy choices here, most secondhand ones will only have a limited life as the plastic hardens with age and cracks like yours.
A genuine new Behr one is around £200 although you can save money by going to a radiator without the aux radiator take off and get rid of the aux radiator at the same time which isn't needed in the UK unless you do track time.
ECP will sell you a cheap copy for around half the price which is what I've got - it works but it's a cheap copy and I don't know how long it will last.
As ever, you pays your money and you take your choice - there's a fair number of posts on here with more details if you want to search for more detail............
which is an 034 item. There are other alloy ones available but they cost e.g. http://www.radtec.co.uk/
Behr are OEM but i have had one crack at the top and another block up after overheating issues. On a Nissens one at the moment but alloy ones are the way to go in the long run IMHO.
2001 996 C4 - Being renovated
1994 ABY Coupe - "Das Smaragd RS2+ Coupe" - Sold
My nissens one lasted 4 years before it gave up due to a head gasket issue. Don't know how long it was there before I brought the var so it could be years old!
