hello mates,so is it possible to fit kkk26 compresor(cold side also) into kkk 24 turbine shaft! e need a little more boost rsponse(my header is a bit oversized in diameter and the intake path and inetrcooler a big twice than original),feel something like a reduce boost response after this mods!exhaust is 3"!
any oppinion about this hybrid turbocharger!thanks in advance!
OK, now listen up. I have just had my K24 rebuilt with a K26/8 (bigger than the K26/6) cold side keeping the K24 hot side to encourage spool up and reduce turbo lag. The standard K26 compressor wheel DOES NOT fit as the shaft diameter is different (smaller shaft diameter in K24) and it also uses a different size bearing. To get around this the company I used did extensive research and fitted another compressor wheel which returns astonishing results! I'm sure the technical guy (Craig) told me it was based on one of the newer KO compressor wheels. They also have to do some machining of the compressor housing to get it to fit. I was the second person to have this 'hybrid' done and the first with a K26/8. Great results
The company is CR Turbos Units 1-4 Millfield Queensway Industrial Estate, New Milton, Hampshire, BH25 5NN. Tel: 01425 638426 and ask for Craig and remember to remind him about the job for the Audi rally car. Cost for the job to supply and fit new compressor wheel, machining cold side, supply and fit new bearing and testing was about £500 but was a top job.
No BHP figures from the rally car as I have NEVER had it on a rolling road. It now has to run with a 32mm air restrictor directly in front of the turbo cold side housing. Mapping was done by MRC in Banbury (Tel Doug 01295 277308) and I am due to return very soon for a return visit and may be tempted to put it on their rolling road. Watch this space.
