What code do you think gets thrown?
Implausible signal for MAP sensor usually.

So what is the code? 0.5 bar is not implausible. 4 Bar? Now, that would be implausible.

Usually? Never in my experience. Hence my post:

It was a typo, I meant "I can't see the trap". I will look inside the kick panel.

I don't remember the code number. It is implausible MAP sensor signal in description.
And the way it is diagnosed is that the ECU checks the position of the TPS to do the diagnosis.

If the sensor is in atmosphere, then there will be never vacuum seen by the ECU and eventually this code is thrown.

The 551C and newer revisions (immo) ECU's have quite a bit of logic added to the boost/knock control chip, so they give better/detailed codes regarding MAP sensor.
You never got this in US/Canada though. All you have is the first 551AA revision from 1992. You never got the RS2 update and other updates that got incorporated in the later ABY and UrS6 ECU's.

So - not sure if 551AA throws this code, but certainly all 551AA's that I convert to RS2 spec and run RS2 software on them do.

Okay. I thought I was going blind.

The moisture trap is probably close to your ECU, wherever that is.

The 551AAs do not throw an implausible MAP sensor code (IME). What do you mean by "you never got the RS2 update"? AFAIK, all AANs world wide still had the same hp (230 DIN) from the factory from 1992 to 1997. Is this wrong?

                AAN:
551A early UrS4 with pseudo dizzy and 8k boost chip
                551AA UrS4 non-immo, Europe and America
                551B UrS4 same as 551AA, but auto
551C UrS6 incorporates all software updates from RS2, different codebase, more diagnostics
                551D UrS6 same as 551C but auto
551E UrS6 has a small tweak to fuel on cold start
                551F UrS6 same as 551E but auto.

At 551C when the immo got incorporated, the RS2 codebase was merged as well.
Yes, it is still 230hp, but many routines are rewritten. For example the rev limiter routine is different, the software code area in the boost/knock control unit is 200 bytes longer and so on.

Let's just say not all software is equal, and in America you only got the very first version with 32k boost chip.
When the RS2 came out a lot of improvements were made to the code, and you never got any of those in America.

Going back to my leak test, we only did a smoke test and certainly it is not sufficient. I ordered a kit from http://www.turboboostleaktesters.com/servlet/StoreFront and hopefully I can do a proper test and revert on how long I can hold for 0.5bar. The website's instruction is quite clear so I encourage those who knows nothing about testing turbo leak to take a look at it.
