    Homefried ecu

Have just put the homefried ecu i bought in the car and i have noticed that the rev response is not as crisp as the original one and has slightly hesitant is this normal. Also mine had a B at the end of the numbers and the new one has a D whats the diff.

    thanks.

Whats the full part number? Dont know what a D is off hand, but i'm curious if you have an AAN ecu.

Right took the car out after fitting the homfried Ecu driving along at 40mph in third gear put foot down quick accelaration then at 3000rpm big kangarooing down the road took foot of back to normal put foot down same response. Have had this response before with the original ecu but not as violent and not as frequent. Is there something wrong?

      thanks.

That's fuel cut , most likely you have a boost leak or MAF related problem,
could just be the MAF connector, needs a clean.

different ecus take a few miles to adapt to their new surroundings, thats more than likely why it isnt as crisp atm,and any running problems are magnified when a chipped ecu is fitted.

This is wrong in case of M2.3.2 and in fact in case of most ECU's. If it does not run perfectly right off the bat, something is wrong.

The reported symptom is most likely the coils on their way out.

So whats the solution. The car runs better on the original Ecu albiet it does kangaroo now and again or keep faith with the homfried ecu and change the Maff which needs doing anyway and also the coil packs which probebly need doing the car has 117,000 miles on it.

The solution is bring it to someone who is experienced with these cars and can diagnose the problem properly before you blow lots of money on stuff that might not be even broken in the first place.

I mean, from what you describe I am pretty sure it's the coils, but unless I sit in that car next to you I can't be certain.
And telling you to go and blow 300-400 quid off of my gut feeling sounds a bit wrong as well

Well i have put the original ecu back in, now running sweet no hold back on boost, Is the homfry ecu at fault? What does a chipped ecu actually do to get the extra power? Im
a complete novice when it comes to ecu's and injection/turbo data. So your expert opinion will be welcome.

What boost you have with new ecu?
From my experience i think new chip boosting over 1.5 bar and ecu cutts off.

It makes more power by running more boost is the simple answer,
obviously the timing maps are altered to suit the higher boost profile.

You need to pull the codes to see what is going on, it may be you have
a boost leak and the higher boost is causing the leak to be worse and thus
the ECU spitting the dummy .

After the car running ok with my original ecu i put the homefry back in now car won't start changed back started first turn. Here are pics of ecu's

There is a difference in the numbers and the letters. Homefry is on the left.

                            Any thoughts on this guys.

                            thanks

4A0 907 551D is an AAN, the other is ABY. Shouldn't make any difference, the two are interchangeable. Check all the pins on the AAN ECU, maybe you bent one when changing them over?
