As above they are interchangeable, i ran our S4 for years on an ABY homefry as it went better than with the AAN version.

As for teething problems, My S2 ran perfect as stock, but as soon as i fitted the homefry i ended up replacing coil packs, POS unit, and chasing multiple air leaks to get it running right. Everything needs to be in tip top condition or the homefry will find the weak link. Keep at it though, its well worth the effort when you get it running right.

Right i have changed all the coil packs now still beru oem ones, also changed the reducer pipe as mine had a split. Tried the homefry ecu again, and same as last time spitting the dummy at 3000rpm so i guess either a boost leak or maff?. Any other thoughts on this lads
      would be grateful.

No not checked it all for boost leaks can't find anybody round this way that can do it. All the coil packs are brand new, spark plugs are ok took them out and cleaned them as they were black think it might be running rich or that i use 99 fuel? how do i check the o ring on the intercooler ie is it an easy job or a few hours work as i use the car as a daily and need to plan it.

Found a guy today an ex merc mechanic but now does all German cars, he seems to think it,s not a boost leak but fuel cut off due to over boost. He asked me if i drive the car normally with the homefry in does it go passed 3000rpm which it does it only plays up when you floor it. He explained that the ecu is cutting fuel in order not to damage the turbo thats what the hold back is. He showed me on a A4 turbo that he attached a vacum pump to, that when exaust gasses flow to much a small valve opens to let the gasses escape before the turbo let goes he was also wondering if there is supposed to be a pipe attached to the top of the wastegate he has asked to ask if anyone on here as a scematic drawing of the turbo set up for the S2 can anybody oblige.

                  thanks

Pull the codes and you will know if it's fuel cut.
But if it's a fuel cut you have a boost leak lol.

                    I was serious btw.
If you can't pull codes or test for leaks, it's time to sell the car as effectively you have no means to maintain it.

Maybe i should just sell on the homfry ecu as it runs ok with oem one.

Maybe. Although it is likely nothing is wrong with the ECU and whatever fault is evident with higher boost will eventually show up with the stock setup too.
Btw, that guy you spoke to has no idea what he is talking about

The wastegate (WG) top pipe question has been many a first post That pipe can be used to test the WG diaphragm but is otherwise redundant.

What the guy showed you sounds like a turbo with an internal WG, our cars have an external wastegate. The wastegate is used to regulate the boost by bypassing the exhaust turbine to regulate the flow through the turbo.

You need to get it properly boost leak tested and plugged into VAG com or a scanner to find the problem. Without that, you are basivally fighting with an arm tied behind your back.

Speak to Kit, he'll sort you out I'm sure.
