Main advantage is the good efficiency of the EV14 on idle and low rpm, whereas the dekas on higher cc are not that good

as far I know if you use stand alone ECU like LINK Vipec etc. you can ajust the timings... Personaly I have seen few cars with 875cc deka's + Link's and they had perfect Idle

        Have you?
I have always seen evo's highly tuned that run like s&*$&t on idle or they call idle 1300rpm!

Maybe an aggressive cam causes that.

That too. But with large injectors rarely can you get an idle of low rpm and lamda 1. But yes aggressive came will do that too.

Watch out, the injector police will be along soon!

Isn't it well known, years ago, that Decas arn't the best choise for perfect idling and low emissions? Well, you can get perfect idling with quite big 1200cc EV14, even on the Motronic.

                    Yes, you need them both.

It's to do with pulse width linearity ev14 are linear down to around 0.7ms iirc whereas dekas are only 1.5 so with large dekas where you need small pulse width you will get a ropey idle
