The HP numbers on that page are exaggerated due to the fact that they do not take into account the restriction of the fuel lines.
          Always keep that in mind.

Fair enough, I was more thinking that the others are better, but the walbro is not junk as it will work up to a certain level (if its reliable).

i was too quick to post there andy, looking at the pictures of the pump and well the size of each its not a fair comparisson at all i think. they are used all over here in the rally scene, cossie mark 2 escorts N/A with jenvye's but always in tandem even three in the last one i saw. i was dazzled by big numbers from much larger bosch is all

                        Hey rj

Thanks for posting this article. I have been having problems with my 255 Walbro and after replacing it once was ready to go 044 this time. I run E85 and evidently the Walbros don't seem to do well with that fuel. The Aeromotive does not have that problem and is made to be a direct drop-in replacement for the Walbro. I would have had to use a V8 basket to be able to use the 044 so this is much easier. I'll let you all know how things go.

I thought I would post back about how things went with my new fuel pump. As a review, I was running a Walbro 255 in addition to running E85 with a billet wheel K-16 based turbo and 630cc injectors with the Eurodyne Maestro 7 Tuning Suite. The car has made 322hp/377tq at the wheels on the dyno. What I was feeling was the fuel going a little lean and the ECU pulling back the timing approaching higher boost levels. I had replaced the first 255 once and that cured things for a bit but given a few weeks time and it was back again. My choice was to go with the Aeromotive 11142. I talked to the guys at Real Street Performance and they said that the 11142 was a drop-in replacement for the Walbro. I ordered it and the shipping was quick and efficient. I just stopped by my shop and 5 minutes later, I was on my way with the new pump. Oh my! What a difference. No more pull on the timing. I was able to set the boost back up to 34 lbs and everything is rock solid from throttle input to WOT at redline. I'll dial the boost back a little but since I do run E85 things aren't nearly as bad as they seem. Call me a very happy customer.

so what was happening with the Walbro. Demand was greater than supply at WOT ?? or is it that the E85 is not quite the same through the pump as normal juice ? curious

E85 can have an effect on a pump's performance. Walbro has a newer pump that's specked for E85. It acted like your first suggestion.
