    Engine modification stages.

    Hello,
I have tried to find a guide/sticky on engine mods/stages and power on here, i may have missed it but if not can anyone help?
I know opinions are going to differ in the details, but if i wanted 300hp-320hp from an ABY engine in good health what do i need?

    Thanks, gav.

    Hey gav

Are you running stock ecu with no chip??

I'm also in the boat for power upgrade. Chipped ecu makes a great difference but wanting that extra kick.

RS2 setup for under 400 without messing about with internals.

As you know I gather anything over needs proper rebuilt internals.

    Be watching what folk suggest.

    Simple things would be:

    Chipped ecu
    Bigger intercooler
Remove any dead weight like air con if not needed.

    Chris

Unfortunately your looking at just over the limits of your standard S2 k24 turbo.

280-290 is achieveable with a decent map and some choice additional items (decat, downpipe and perhaps IC)

But if you want 315bhp, then that is achievebale with RS2 turbo, downpipe, IC, injectors and suitable map. (but chipped with rs2 mods could take you to 360-380 bhp for very little more £££, with obviously slightly more lag.

So i think you need to decide if you want to get close to 300bhp for £500-600, or if you want to spend closer to £1500-2000 for 370ish bhp. There isnt much that makes sense in the middle i'm afraid.

A simple map and decat pipes will give around 290bhp... Thats what mine does and gave a RR print out of 279bhp before I added the cat bypasses into it.... So hopefully around 290 now... As others say any more power really needs the rest of the RS2 set up... intercooler, turbo, injectors and exhaust manifold etc....

Search for "k24 7400" as that will meet your requirements. The RS2 turbo will give a little more, hybrid RS2 more still, k26/27 more still, then you're looking at Garrett turbos...

RS2 is bolt on and kits come up regularly. It's a nice upgrade and will se around 350-370 bhp depending on how serious you get.

Thanks, thats interesting about the intercooler, what are its limits?

Im more familiar with 944 turbo tuning (have spare k26 turbos which fit the same i think), so i was thinking i would need a chip first, i have a standard ecu and stock chip in my S2.

I have a de cat exhaust on the car, so the next thing is a chip with a good map on it, what do you suggest?
also what is the issue with the downpipe? does it restrict? or is it to do with fitting a the RS2 turbo?

That 944 turbo may be of use

                  Ok, i will.

Is anyone on here running a k26~6? looks like it will bolt on direct.
I also have a stainless exhaust (miltec?) ,(not fitted) but i see the downpipe is a bigger issue and mine is stock.
Would be nice if the de cat ,exhaust system ,k26 and a chip would see 290-300
