ABY, blink test chnging its mind, G28/G40

    Hello,

My car will not start, it turns over.
Compression is ok, and im sure its electrical.

I have removed the clifford immobiliser and done all the usual.

The blink test 1st said G28 sensor- but this is new(as are g4 and g40)
I went in the house, did some thinking, spun it over again and did another test, this time G40 sensor, is there a known reason for this?

Pull codes with vag com instead of blink test...

Thanks PRJ, i forgot to bring it home and got impatient...
The G28 is prob because the engine wasnt spun, and then it was so G28 ok and G40 fault found due to spinning (guess)
      I will look properly tomorow...

Your assumption is completely correct and you are on the right track

I do remember somthing about flashing the signal wire to the feed to replicate the CPS effect to get it to fire , (think it was you iirc) I assume green is the signal, does it need flashing/switching to the red or the gnd?

found it, written by your good self..

"For number 2 I have another tip, besides the cold water. I had to use this once to get a few unfortunate souls home.

You need to find the ground and the signal in the hall sensor connector and run two wires from there.
Now while one person is cranking the engine, the other person should be quickly connecting and disconnecting the wires.

The ECU needs only one pulse in approximately the correct place to start.
As soon as you hear the injectors going it should start. If it does not start and the injectors are going, it means you hit the wrong phase!
So you should try again, but expect a very loud bang out of the exhaust because it is now full of unignited fuel."

Yup, that is useful in a pinch.

If you have a G40 code then there is a high probability of it being dead though.

                  Thanks again....
The reason i could not find the fault after 3hrs is because there was 2!
I bought the car as a non runner, it was standing since 2009.
An audi Tech had looked at the car for the previous owner and said it needed a crank sensor (see my error at top of page)
the owner replaced both...it didnt run and was thrown into a gararge for 3 yrs.

I did all the usual earth cleaning and relay/fuse stuff, though it was probably G40 but there was no fuel.
Easy start in the TB and your CPS by pass trick and it went! whey!!!

So, dead fuel pump (most likely due to standing 3 yrs) and a dead CPS.

                      Thanks,
I expect i will be on here quite a lot, i bought the car 3 days ago and its going to be a huge project to make it what i want.

When it runs as it should and has MOT i will need more power (i have been told you are the man to speak to about chips) , my other car is a 330hp 944 turbo
and i dont want this feeling slow. near 300hp for now would be nice.
                      Chip, de cat, milltec exhaust??

Well off this topic , but i have a K26/6 turbo as i changed the 944 to a k26/8. Would the k26/6 have any advantage over the k24 on the S2?

                      Thanks

You will struggle to reach 300 bhp with the standard turbo. 280-290 is max usually.
Chip is usually enough - the exhaust and the decat would come in handy if you were to upgrade the hardware some.

The K26/6 will just be more laggy on the AAN. The K24-7000 is a very good turbo and it is better suited to the engine.
The K26/6 does not really flow more - well perhaps enough for 300hp, but gives a substantial lag increase, which is not really worth it.

That said - you could use the K26/6 hotside to make a HX35/K26 out of it, and that would flow enough for unto 450hp. But this is a different story.
