    How to reduce boost

Although I've still not found the cause of my low boost at high rpm I have a more pressing need to reduce boost!

Car goes in for repair work on Friday and I'd like to reduce the power in the car, just in case.

Any BTDT for putting the car into, say, mechanical boost only without causing any problems for the car.

    Cheers
    Jim

Jim - easiest is just to disconnect your WGFV - you will then only get whatever the spring is set to ( .4 to .6 bar ). Plug back in and reset ECU or drive and wait for optimisation. Cheers James.

Disconnect the WGFV - that will raise a fault code of course - but you will have mechanical boost limit at ~0.6bar

If you don't want the fault code or the garage to just plug it back then put a by-pass hose in place of the wgfv from compressor housing to wastegate.

Other methods are to disconnect a knock sensor, this will disable boost control as the ecu is in a limp mode.

In 3B cars you may tell the ecu the engine is overheating and it does the same without fail codes. Actually this function is also in the ABY ECUs, but there is no wiring for it.
