i have heard of cars dropping exhaust valves and have seen it on a new mini and also on VAG vr6 jumps but still learning with the in line 5.
if you can lay your hands on one of those little fibre optic cameras then have a look inside each bore and if head has dropped you'll see the mess.
what is it with cars did cam belt on 1.8t today. started up and made horrendous whine. spent next hour to establish is was auxiliary belt area. long story short alt noisy. owner said yeah i know! wish he had said!

Ha, at least it didnt hve to be fixed on your part...

        Right, mine is fkd.
I now see the last owner must hve messed with it when it wouldnt start, im not sure how i missed this, but the cam was lined up with a tippex mark and not the factory one.
It was about 4 teeth out, enough to just miss on cranking , but it would seem when i ran it it hit.

No compression on 234 even with cams removed (so not lifters ect) head off then...
This explains the raket it made, the poor running and why i need to stay away from old cars..

Anyway i think im going to need 6 or 8 valves or a used head.

I am thinking the hall sensor might be fine as well, just out of sync...
          Well, good luck.

The valves are sold separately, you should be able to buy them...

              Thats what i thought prj...
It looks quite new, and i expect this balls up was done when it was fitted.

Maybe i can buy a valve or 2 with the money
