    changing the fuel filter

Ok, so after 163,000 miles I think its time to change this.

    Couple of questions though:

    1) am i likely to dump a load of petrol all over the drive?
    2) The car is 'homefried', will a fresh filter produce any odd fueling/pressure issues as it was upgraded on the original filter?
    3) How easy is it to change myself?
    4) Any idea on cost/partnumber

    Cheers guys!!!!

    David,
its quite easy to do on the superior coupe , unlike the avant..lol
I got mine from halfords believe it or not, think its the only part they have listed for the S2.
just 1 banjo bolt each end to undo, both slightly different sizes so will only go on 1 way. You should get new copper washers with the filter.
Crimp the line from the tank with a g-clamp and you shouldnt spill much fuel.
    dead easy.

It is pretty easy to do it yourself when you have a coupe, i believe it is more work when you have a avant.(took me half an hour) There will come a small amount of petrol out of the filter but not much. I dont think the performance will rise, only when the old filter is full with dirt(mine wasnt). I believe I paid around 20 euro at the stealer.

        kind regards,

after 12 years on the car, i expect mine to be full of rubbish and restricting the flow. Will post some pics once I have changed it.

Does anyone know if there is an inline oil/particulate filter for the turbo?

          Cheers,

David, The main oil filter is used to filter oil to the turbo. Mark H added a small inline filter to his setup, ask him for details.
