Yes Jim - the RS2 EM does bolt straight up to the ABY head and stock K24 turbo and downpipe. I've never heard of any issues with that - other than the fun and games required to remove some of the EM studs. I'd say its less hassle to remove the entire head with manifolds attached than try and fight off the EM in situ.
I doubt you'd feel any improvement with everything else stock - never quantified that myself. Its a good 'foundation' mod though if you are dabbling with thoughts of the dark side
I also doubt there would be any significant gain just to be had from a chip tweak - as the flow limit shall be the amount of air that the stock turbo can deliver.
The RS2 EM is a direct replacement for the standard 3B/ABY manifold. You wont need to alter the downpipe or turbo fittings
Your ECU wont know the difference either, so there is no need to be concerned about remapping. The upgrade will allow for better gas flow from the head, so a big turbo, injectors, intercooler, fuel pump, etc, etc will be needed to make the most of it
Beware of the possibility of the studs snapping if you are removing the manifold jim.
9 times out of ten the head will have to come off to get them out BTDT
