    Team Bodge barb-b-q

We'll need eggs, bacon, sausages etc

The big cone (k&n say rated to 400hp??) is on, and as you can see from the attached picture, the quickest and easiest (and cheapest) way to heat shield it was... ummm, well you can see.

After a thrash you'd be surprised (ok, amazed) at how cool the pipes are. Only when the car stops moving does heat soak make the pipes hotter to touch. Car faster? Well, no idea really, didn't have enough fuel in the tank to cane it properly, plus on local 30mph roads. Makes a damn racket every time you change gear though - thought I'd blown a hose off till I realised it was with every gear change.

I saved some tin foil to wrap myself in for the inevitable flames that will be thrown my way

The big u bend? It was part of the 'kit' from Dialynx - couple of 90 degree hoses, a metal t piece and the big cone. Bought it months ago and got fed up of it sliding around on the back seat. The inlet pipe (covered in foil) was also painted in the enamel paint stuff too. There's about 5 layers of tin foil over the top of the downpipe and hot side - it's not going anywhere.

Only prob is the mesh on the maf is a bit black, so what to clean that with?

The Orange ducting wasn't quite wide enough to go on the maf/cone inlets which was my original plan (wire reinforced heat resistant etc) but I think the Silicon hoses (covered in foil) will do the trick. Also considering another pipe/duct from the grill area of the car to the bottom of the cone. Cut up a funnel (available from Asda for about 50p I think) to finish the duct off, and cut some grooves in it to hold it onto the cone. Prodigious use of tie wraps all round.

      Looks good dont it? (BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!)

Can't find the invoice - think it cost about £100+vat+postage all in. Filter is 03F02 K/NRE- 0810

It also states 'intended for off road, racing or marine use only. Not for use in emissions controlled vehicles.' which is nice.

Is that a plastic funnel attached to the end of your cool air feed?

The plastic snowman melted unfortunately. It's currently working it's way through the engine, along with the small children, oaps and animals that got slurped up when I put my foot down. Luckily the car runs ok still, though it does smell a bit like wee after it sucked a granny up.

Yup carved up to fit. Will be buying a few more when next at Asda to do a neater job and duct more air to the cone.

I'm sure Tom would approve. It must be worthy of one of his car stickers....

Are you not going for the pancake air filter then Paul ?

Glad to see you've cleaned your engine bay up a bit too. LOL.
