    urs4 rs2 turbo lag

hi guys i have a 92 s4 this summer i replaced the engine ( spun bearing) i installed a rs2 exh manifold& turbo . it also has a mtm +2 chipset it has a lot more lag than it did before the rs2 turbo/manifold when it boosts it feels more powerful . the quarter mile times are almost the same as the stock motor with the chipset . the cold side of the turbo doesnt look like the rs2 turbos i see the inlet is bolted on the tag says k24-7200. i have checked the cam timing the only thing changed was the shortblock/turbo/manifold what difference does a rs2 turbo& manifold on a urs4 normally make ? thanks dave

It should make quite a difference. Do you know what its boosting to on the dash gauge? that will help people on here diagnose it.

Apart from the manifold/turbo/chips, what else has been changed on the car? exhaust? injectors? fuel pump? intercooler?

It should be a lot quicker on the rs2 turbo if its genuine than a k24, might be worth speaking with prj on here about his opinions on the mtm +2 chipset as it sounds like it might not be the best chips to get the max out the turbo, he should know and be able to advise.

As above, chipped RS2 should be a fair bit faster. My 30-60 mph times dropped from 2.9s to 2.4s even with the lag, when I went from a well running chipped OEM S2 to chipped RS2.

IIRC one of the MTM RS2 chips is only about 340hp?
Also where did you get the chip from? Perhaps the "MTM" chip isn't an MTM chip at all, a lot of crappy chips get labelled with a big tuners logos to sell them.

Assuming that there are no leaks, that the fuel is good and that you have a full RS2 setup, get some chips from a known source with known characteristics and see if it's any better.

            Post up where you're based.

Wait, you haven't put the RS2 injectors in yet ? !!
you can't run RS2 chips and turbo on standard injetors.

I think the problem here is the guy is using chips for a standard K24 equipped car with an RS2 turbo bolted on in it's place.

Install the RS2 injectors right away. Or bigger ones.
You are right now running very lean due to the injectors maxing out, and you will destroy your motor if you continue running like this.
The stock chipset also explains why the boost comes in so late.

If you need proper software, then I can always help...
Full boost will come in at 3500-3600 in 3rd and it will be quite a bit more powerful too.

You definitely cannot run RS2 turbo properly with stock injectors and fuel pump..nowhere near enough.

Get those and a generic RS2 map and you should be fine..I think! With a normal map, there should not be too much torque for stock rods (hopefully)

Torque and stock rods is a myth, plus OP stated he has scat rods.

Would stock rods be able to handle RS2 turbo safely? What about Hybrid? Just curious, maybe one day

I've done 500hp and 600nm on stock rods. There is a dyno graph posted of another car on here that I mapped with 440hp and 610nm also on stock rods.

Knock bends the rods. Custom map and all is well.

Read about that on here, more at a low rpm I suppose. One day hopefully, I could get some proper work done on my car, thing is, I live in the middle of nowhere, getting the car mapped properly would be too difficult
