    Yes, of course.

MTM chipset on these is pretty weak - dynoed it at 262 hp crank, but it will be reliable and increase your fuel economy noticeably.

I made a set for the 2.2T a while back - when I still had my S6 that was stock (that escalated quickly...), it should be more powerful than most of other stuff on the market.

HP wise all the higher pressure chipsets are similar, but I also do the MAP sensor upgrade, and run more boost in the midrange, so the car has more torque, compared to most that is out there... should also be a bit lighter on the fuel. There are about 70 cars running this chipset atm around the world, many in Russia and Ukraine on crap fuel and so far no one had engine problems.

In the end, it's up to you who you go with. But personally I would not pay for the MTM set, because it's available to download online if you know where to look and how to fix the broken byte that results in ecu reset every now and then.

    which software

    Hi 4WheelDrifter,

I could not say it any better.

"The only people that really know which are the best chips, are the people that can read them and fully understand them. But who are these people? That is the question."

This is exactly why I am asking for opinions and I seriously hope the gurus will chip in "excuse the pun"

I read in one thread that the MTM software causes the engine to run lean, I don’t know if that’s true and in any case how do you actually go about proving or disproving that statement.

For me picking the right software is a bit like buy a movie you don’t know what is going to be like until you have watched it.

Come on gurus please chip in.

I've compared both and must say that Paul's chips are better in my opinion. Certainly a lot faster, that's for sure.

Bare in mind that some opinions on 'the best' chips may include things that seriously compromise long term reliability.
Raising boost levels, turning off knock sensing, running super lean, advancing timings, disabling the N75 and so on may make some chips feel a lot better than others. But IMHO that does not make them 'the best'. The only people that really know which are the best chips, are the people that can read them and fully understand them. But who are these people? That is the question.

Also, if I went on RS2 route, definitely would ask Prj to live map my car if possible

Not sure on the improvement made as I bought it as it was with the MTM chipset so won't know the difference between stock and using the chipset.

However I am very happy with the performance/mpg and is more than adequate for me at the moment though I would like an RS2 setup (Managing to average 22mpg)

Some other forum members might better know the difference between stock and MTM setup. Prj could help you out as he is on here quite often

    Mtm

    rynaqui,

At present I am seriously looking at the MTM CHIP as we have an agent in South Africa.

Can you advise the improvement it makes

I know for sure that the homefried setup by Paul Nugent and Prjs own software provide great performance and reliability from what I've heard. I've got an MTM chipset on my S2 from the previous owner which is pretty good too.

To be honest, on reliability it's more of how often and well your car was serviced and taken care of than anything else.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Are you guys aware of the differances in performace between the software changes made by different companies? eg torque, hp/kw, fault code logging being retained and long term stability.
