As Eugen says, each POS has 3 pins on the input side, and 2 on the output.
I have a photo of my setup with 5 coils and 5 POS. But not with me just now. I'll try to get it later.

Oh and don't think it looks ****, bit oldskool though having 5 of this size coils in a row
The coils look common to a few Audis of a similar age, and I did wonder if they were the same, but I didn't have a working car to test them individually. So I got 5 3B coils and POS to be on the safe side. Lots of 3B were being broken, and the coils would go for scrap anyway.

I am glad I am not the only one that like the old skool look. Plug leads have the added advantage of easy spark/no spark diagnostics.
I still remember the first time I was confronted with an ABY that wouldn't start. A PITA when you have come from a 7As and 3Bs IME.

Yup that And the fact that I don't want coils on top of the 7A cam cover, looks odd IMHO.

Well, I didn't like to say I thought the 1.8T/RS4/WHY coils look ****, with so many conversions out there.

Ok. As promised, here are a couple of photos of my OEM coils. It took a lot of searching through the archives, but I got there in the end.
Sometimes I think I spend too much time taking photos, but you never know what may end up being useful.

Hopefully the aluminium plate will be sufficient for dissipating heat from the POS, and likewise for the bars between the coils. I can always add fins if needed.

Oh, I should mention that I spend too much time weighing stuff too. But I can't find my notes on the weight of that lot just now.

Great photos. If you don't mind, I will add them to my AAN(/ABY/ADU) coils post. What would be great is a photo looking in at the connectors (??)

                  No problem, Dave.

Seeing as the connectors are the most expensive parts, I put them somewhere safe. I might get some time on Sunday to have a look for them.

With the POS at that angle there is just enough room with the connectors on. I also had to leave enough room for the output cables. I just had to change the length of the cables. The connectors from the ECU point in the right direction for my RHD car too.

Here is a picture of the standard 3B coil and POS arrangement.

                  Along with the circuit diagram.

I don't think Dmitri saw this. I am curious, too. I have the (very expensive) 034 HO kit with Magnecors.
Just installed Dmitri's S6 auto chip set, too. Goes like stink, but I hope that the dwell time does not need to be adjusted.
