VAG Diagnostic help - non starter

Hi guys, requesting your help as the forum for these cars has sod all activity, 160 views no reply.

My daily is the SEAT Cordoba SX 2.0 16v whilst the S2 is being worked on.
From my understanding the SEAT has the same engine as a Golf GTI MK3.

So..... I went to shop on Saturday came out to my car, turns over but cuts out as soon as it starts..... If i gave it gas it would rev but then cut out after.

So far I have cleaned the throttle body, replaced the ignition coil and plugs, and have a crank sensor I need a friend to help fit, but none of these things have helped.

In fact, whether its down to the culprit part getting worse or the battery going, it now struggles to turn over properly and I rarely get it to rev a little like before.

Any help, advice would be seriously appreciated, have already taken today off work and i'm still in probation period.

This should be running the ABF lump. One common failure is the Ignition coil or TCI unit (i think its called) they suddenly pack up for no reason. Although you say that has been replaced.
Have you got fuel and a spark???
You could do with pulling the codes. They are a very simple engine and I am sure it will be something simple.

                  Its a T reg spink.

Yes monkeymagic it seems fairly simple, even im getting to grips with it!!

I replaced the ignition coil as above and it now is more of a pig trying to turn over.

I am getting fuel and spark.....

                  Really appreciate you guys helping!

If it were immob it Will show on scan. It'll be struggling to start prob because battery suffering or its flooding with fuel. Watch the crank sensor on vcds see if its giving reading. Also a common fail. However with this you tend to get ao initial spark on crank then nothing after that. are you getting a good fat spark on cranking?
You need to start with vcds scan though buddy.

Ok monkey mate, I will try and pull codes again as it wasnt working before as mentioned in my first post.

The spark is not that big according to my mechanic friend.

I will let you guys know how i get on

Simple answer you need to get a fault read. It does have all the symptoms of failed crank sensor. I have seen it where it hasn't logged a fault but watch rpm in measuring blocks and Nowt. Its one Allen key to change. Engine mount gets in way a bit so easiest to support engine and take it off. Hours job

Ok so my friend has fitted a new crank sensor, its now starting up revving up then dying.
                              He thinks its immobiliser....
He also said that a brake light fuse blew when he replaced it with a new one... so if its not the immo then its the fusebox...

                              What do you guys think?
