Turbo - This cant be right?

well I've clocked up a few thousand miles on the new engine and since October it hasn't been used much due to fuel costs, not mapped and winter grit. This has started to happen behind the cold side and to me it doesn't look right!.... the odd thing the actual engine oil is not as black as what is weeping out of the turbo....

it only at the top and I cannot see any other oil leaking out of the casing anywhere else...

I am currently running a stock PCV if that makes a difference....

anyone got any suggestions/ideas on what it is or how to cure it, that would be great.

    cheers
    Mike

looks like your leaking oil into the inlet, Check in your inlet track to see if theres any oil there

I run a comp turbo a ct 4 58/62 I had problems with this, I had to reduce the size of the restrictor now it all good and have cover a lot of miles with no problems

What size is your restrictor ?

thats funny you should say that as I had a converstion with Terrybullwon about this a while back...there was trace of oil in the main inlet....but that could only come from the head breather hose, can't it?....

      I'm running a 0,4mm restrictor

What's interesting is why is there oil getting past the seal on the cold side? I'd have thought it should be totally sealed?

I run very affective breather system that works perfectly now as that was also a problem I had sucking oil through the PVC

Was your restrictor supplied by comp ?

it was a kit sold by Repo when he was selling comp products...I assume the restrictor came with the kit....

I am curious why its not the same colour as the enigne oil??!?!?!?....

Take the cold side off and see if its the bearing cartridge leaking or your PVC ? Is it present at the throttle?

It could point to the breather system possably then

When oil has gasses in it, it turns black. If the oil is seeping past the turbo seals will go black. If the air filter is restrictive as the turbo starts to suck hard it pulls a vacuum on the seals and draws the oil into the intake.
