one thing to add, there is an inline filter....could the oil not be getting through the restrictor/filter quick enough and then forming some form of mist/"cloud" of oil which then recondenses on the cooler housing?...I realise I am clutching at straws I just relish the thought of having to strip the turbo off.....Comment

I would suspect it's breather oil being ingested, spun to the outside and boosted by the compressor.
It looks like the seal on the compressor housing isn't very good anyway.SSComment

The sort of power you're aiming for, you're going to have to upgrade the breather system at some point so you might as well do it now.sigpic

that makes sense as the housing has been undone a few times so it can be orientated correctly once it is sat in the engine bay...I'll re-check it...
where would it be ingested as I'm not even running upto 0,4bar of boost....

you are right though Andy....I'm already talking to JP and Andy C about catch tanks/seperator set ups....I just had visions of the turbo blowing up before I've even opened it up properly!....Comment

I thought you were running a stock breather system? There are plenty of crankcase gases and oil vapour to be hoovered up, even on a freshly built engine.SSComment

Crankcase pressure and intake vacuum. As JP says, especially if your air filter is restrictive. That pulls more vacuum through the breather.SSComment
