No problem to let the crankshaft be overhauled to first oversize. They will balance it again.

Each crank is externally percentage balanced so crank rods pistons flywheel and pulley are all one unit. Change any of the unit and you need to rebalance. Some items like changing front pulley effect balance very little some items like crank very much.

Or you regrind journals on damaged crank to first oversize and you need no rebalance.

Ive done replacement of the crank's with spare one, + new/used bearings without any balancing at list 20 times with NO problems at engines from 100 to 650hp.
With 2 words - You can done it, but not 100% necessary.

All depends on model engine. I assume you have done mainly on 4cyl engine as I can't imagine an I5 producing only 100hp. 4cyl crank is zero balanced so is easy to change crank with no problems.

I5, V6, V8 all percentage balanced cranks. If lucky you can swap if unlucky you will spin bearings again from harmonic vibration.
I dont like to build an engine on luck because that's a risk of 50+ engines going wrong every year which is a big financial mistake for anyone

My existing engine l5 is a hta82 powered. 360kw at wheels. I've close it 2 times with used main bearings and new rod bearings. I've use 2 different sets of used pistons - one off adu and one off Alan. No any balancing at all. I rev it up to 7500rpm and 2 bar of boost.
But that don't mean you are not correct.
