    What a bitch!
I don't think it'll pass then. Our '99 A3 runs with no cats and not even a donated crate of Wifebeater'll make it pass.

At least with the cats in the garage they should last a bit longer than if they were on the car.

No detail on the Lambda as it was fitted by the previous owner.

I am a little unsure of the MOT worthyness of my De catted car. The Decat was done 6 years ago and the car has MOT certs for it ever since. I don't think the owner was refitting them, in fact IIRC correctly he went into a lot of detail inc getting the correct regs off the DOT to make sure it did pass without CATS (although he did give me them with the car). (It was MOT'd at the same place every year. The MOT is due this month so we will soon find out.

I am going to take it to my local (Friendly) MOT tester and keep my fingers crossed and look innocent!

I will check and post if i do see any values which are different - i think it was all hot air

Dunno, but lower limits will only apply to cars after the date the limts were set. I'm sure they can't back track and set lower limits for older cars

Been doing some research, pricing starts at:-

RS2 EM £450 (new form VAG Parts)
                RS2 IC £307 (")
Refurbished K26 Hybrid £800 (AET) (see separate thread)
Custom remap on the road (700euro from Minhea IIRC? appologies if I'm wrong)
turbo back stainless system with de-cats IIR £1000 from Longlife (went there today and had a chat)

That'll be £3k minimum then for 370+bhp, chaper than an RS2!
Of course that'll all go out the window

Please send donations to A. Casey, At Home, South Goloucestershire!

Holly Sh8t Andy, that exhaust is expensive???? I paid £445ish for my cat back from then including larger bore pipes and a tailpipe of my choice? I was only quoted a further £150 to remove the Y section and cats (which I hope to do soon) so the only thing left would be the downpipe to change if i ever wanted to. Where did you go to get that quote.....Croydon (my 'local'), Gloucs or Cardiff?

                    Cheers,

Andy - don't wanna rain on the parade but I don't see mention of RS2 injectors, RS2 headgasket or the sundries needed therein (headbolts, nuts, bolts, exhaust gaskets etc etc). If you want 370hp or thereabouts, you'll need those bits too I suspect.

Alternative is straight bolt on RS2 turbo, RS2 intercooler and remap. Someone did that here I think (Martin?) and got a useful 330hp or thereabouts. A nice 'stage 1.5' tune up, with bags of torque no doubt.

When you list it like that I cringe about how much I spent this year. I thought it was only around 5k but it was more than that. Not even gonna think how much...

Good luck with whatever you decide! If you get the bits and come along to a meet, you might find a few pairs of helping hands, if past meets are anything to go by.

                      Cheers, Paul

@ Andy - my Scorpion system (including De-cat) was about £500, I think that price from Longlife is too high there.
As a total aside, my brother just had a Longlife SS exhaust fitted to his chipped Rover 620Ti 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately his turbo went BANG yesterday, he's not a happy boy! I'm sure the two are utterly un-related.

                          Exhaust:

The IIR £1000 was for a down pipe, Y section with de-cat insets to enable the cats to be replaced at some point, full system and tailpipe of my choice. To be fair it wasn't the manager/owner that I spoke to but one of the fitters so there's alway room for a deal!

                          Raining on Parade:

Good point well made. Injectors are a definate oversight on my part and more than likely cost a billion$ each... 330bhp sounds like an acceptable intermediate stage but then you're doubling.trippling etc. the remapping costs!

Another oversight was a roll of Bacofoil... LOL!

I wreckon 4.5 to 5k is a more relaistic finished figure but who's counting!

Is your a 3B or ABY?, think you get away from maxing out the cycle of the injector as i know S2Central offers this in his generic RS2 chip.

Think it was glen that did this, id definately fit the RS2 ex manifold if you can, cylinders 1+5 can run very hot with the stock one. Then you have the possibility of a snapped manifold stud which if snaps below the surface of the head will need the head removing to get out BTDT. Ideal time to do the head gasket.

'94 ABY coupe... but then I'm sure your copper mate could have told you that following last weekend! LOL!

                                Long term plan:-

Current thinking is to get the RS2 EM and IC on a homefries with a K24 along with a gradual upgrade of the zorst and a decent intake setup. A drip feed of power so to speak. Aim would be 290ish.

Then do the head and 7A/RS2 cams depending on availability (see separate thread on reground 7A/S2 cams). Aim is to improve gass flow and change the head gasket and bolt set etc. at the same time in around 15k to 20k's time when the head will require a rebuild anyway. Look for IIR 300 although I'm fully aware that on a generic chipset this may not happen but the point is that she's ready and waiting for more or I can just get a custom remap and call it a day... unlikely!

Fianlly get the RS2/GT30R and a full custom remap (and injectors if required). To be fair I'd forgotten about the S2C RS2 chipset which would be a simpler generic approach, assuming everything was near RS2 spec. To get to this stage will take patience but it would take the car to a point where things get seriously custom.

Finally an RS2 Im for the 'Powered by Porsche' BLINGNESS!
                                Cheers'en, AndyC
