I am not familiar with "copy cat" ... I don't know what it means...
I was just trying to raise awarness about this problem, I thought that what happened to me was only bad luck but it seems that it's not.

Just a heads up its all VAG bottom sprockets from this era 5pot,kr,acv&ajt there all the same, weak. The sprocket should be part of the cam belt kit in my opinion.

You do not deserve sympathize. When i phoned you/send pics of it you shout:"can not be possible, belt was changed 1000km ago"
Anyway,as someone explayned i think also rust on bolts and overtightening can cause that. Also a non careful inspection before mounting another used one.

The sprocket is from the aby etx. When doing timing always change this and the bolt that goes with it, also the idler relay roller, the cam chain, water pump and obviously belt

Chris: Mileage? Any idea if those four harmonic tensioner bolts were hit with an impact wrench (instead of gentle torquing)?

                                My thought also....
I think that the bolts were overtightened or an impact wrench was used....
At the big bolt..i never use loctite and, using the locking tool, i have 1 meter bar and my 54 kg weight
Never had problems with these in this condition..and i changed some belts....
