RS2 AAN vs V8 AHC - performances?

Hi guys,

what do you think, which engine has better performances (in the same car off course), I5 AAN RS2 converted plus chip ~360HP or 4.2l V8 AHC 32V from S8 D2 340HP?

When I say "better" I mean for daily driving and some "traffic light races" not for drag races

For a daily I say the V8.

V8 is obviously going to win based on torque. However, you failed to ask another question and that is "If fuel consumption is considered, which of the two engines would be the best overall, i.e. performance and fuel economy?"

I am quite sure the RS2'd AAN with 360 hp would win. (I KNOW it would win - since that is exactly what I have and it is the reason that I haven't gone to a C5 S6 V8).

Only 2.2 20VT, much better in performance, cheaper parts, less parts, more economic when 4.2 v8. 2.2 only after remaping run much better when V8.

The 4.2l V8 AHC engine is RUBISH on fuel..
Mines on LPG which makes it just about drivable.

why would that be? with approx the same power I'd expect the naturally aspirated to be the faster car

I'd be more than happy to have either engine in a car! Advantage of V8 is no turbo lag but then it will need to be woken up, if tuned.

I'd say that the I5 would be easier to fit in a smaller chassis car but in a larger chassis, you can have either...

I'd say an I5 stroker is a nice middle ground
