My mate has an S4 V8 (340hp) my chipped RS2 kills it everywhere, 0-60 is a second faster, the cars are the same weight, my avant v his saloon. Its faster at every speed period!
The v8 is rubbish, they never make 340hp either, the best one ive seen had only 30k miles on it and made 322hp.
At one of our "S-Fest Wests" (west side of NAmerica - mostly Oregon, Washington, BC, Alberta UrS folks) there was some impromptu "assessment of capabilities" between and S8 (tiptronic) and a chipped RS2'd UrS4 from about 5 mph. It was pretty much a wash. No clear winner.
That said, if you set out from London to say Edinburgh on a Motorway with an RS2'd UrS or a chipped RS2 and an S8 telling the drivers to maintain say a 70 mph average while on the motorway, I know who'd get there first: The RS2'd UrS or chipped RS2. This would be because the S8 would have to stop for fuel whereas the other two probably wouldn't have to.

94 UrS4 V8 6 spd manual avant
Yes NA Audi engines don't seem to make the power that's in the books. An S6 V10 on the rollers barely made the factory stated power after a remap.
Yes, and the dyno that had the V8 at 322hp also had mine on the same day at 379,
mine is probably only 360-365 in reality so the V8 was probably only making ~315

no offence but starting an RS2 from 5mph is going to be a slow start for it due to lag, my mates s8 could have a 5mph start on me and if I launch mine form a stand still on boost I will still fly past him, no problem.
The RS2 has 410NM of torque at 3000 RPM, the V8 has the same torque at 3500 RPM.
So if the RS2 engine is chipped than it will have more torque than the V8
I have both engines in different car (20020v & s8), and 20vt is faster and more economical in every case, cheep and better for self service.
v8 sounds brutal , but they didn't. when you heart it.. omg.. it is something special , actually they are rubbish if we compare it with 20vt.
some will say 20vt had big turbo lag and it is not good. I will say that turbo lag is foreplay , this particular moment before boost , this moment of surprise is amazing .
I love it allot, v8 will never had, and it miss me on v8. advantage of v8 is sound. with v8 you will have more "friends". for example..
owner of local gas station will be very happy every time (day) when see you !
older people from neighborhood will think that you became a local drug dealer ...
this is some good things with V8..
I just have to clear up URS4boy's statements.I was present. The starts were in 2nd gear, for the RS2'd URS4,approx. 30 m.p.h. starts. It ended dead even, after many tries. We both went home with our heads held up high.
