Yeah the AHC feels smooth and is fun to launch if you left foot brake but its got nothing on an rs2 spec I5.
I would swap that for the V8 anyway!

My test of the tuned (claimed 400hp) V8 in the S6+ was my biggest automotive disappointment ever. Awesome sound with aftermarket exhaust, but it felt like a turbo engine off boost, I just waited for the power to kick in, but it never happened.
The BSR remapped 1.8T in the Audi A4 feels so much quicker (pulls more peak G force as well), ie I would pick a 1.8T over the 4.2 V8 of the S6+ in case my mods would be limited to remap.
My RS2 is way quicker now than when I tested the S6+, so it would feel even slower now. My RS2 pulls 35% more G-Force (0.53G) in FOURTH gear than the S6+ did in SECOND gear (0.39G)

Here is a thread that I made after running some power tests on the S6+, as well as stock and remapped RS2.

I don't know what state of tune your tuned RS2 spec URS4 was in or how it was running when you had this result as my chipped RS2 spec up against my mates S8 it is no contest, I pull away rapidly at any speed, as above, the S8 feels slow by comparison.

                lets look this thing objectively.
S8 is not designed for young boys who want instant speed car and fun on track days. S8 is designed for executive officers who have to travel fast and safe in big space car. when they get 230km/h on German motorway, they can drive on that speed for hours.
can you do that with stock AAN ? of course you can. but engine will not be good after 100 000 km, v8 will be in perfect condition.
we can't compare 2 engines which is design in opposite purpose.

I would see one another test , lets take s4 AAN and S8 , hook up one camp trailer which have 1,5 tons and lets travel 1000 km . fuel economy of AAN will exceed V8. workaround slowest vehicle will be slower . AAN will suffer more than v8.

We compare AAN'd RS2 vs AHC V8, so right comparison is ADU vs AHC

I5 is way cheaper in case of mods Each HP:$
If i need to choose the motor, definitely the big block always
give you a nice sound even with stock exhaust but if you're going
mods your car for some extra HP.i'd stick with I5.let's say it's much more flexible,
more HP.i never regret of being having the I5 on my car.it's best engine ever.
                      cheap fixed,durable,cheap mods.
one of a few I5 from Asia.

You would think that but it's not true, the S8 has a major service at 100k miles,
specifically a £2500 full head rebuild.
I've never seen any 20v turbo AAN,ABY, needing a rebuild at such low mileage
and there is not one in the AUDI service schedule.
they also wear the bores and bearings out if under load for many miles out due to the aluminium block.

So if you towed a caravan with both engines the V8 would come off worse.

The V8 also loses more HP per mile driven than the I5,
most loose 10hp in 20k miles and 20hp by 50k, ****in crap IMO.

For reference a friend of mine bought my old 200 20v of me with 120k on it
and used it to tow a burger van all over the UK for another 100k, no problems
                        at all!

Yes,Dave. We traded cars, and did it all over again. It was certainly a fun day for me,after driving 3,000 miles to get there. 6,000 miles in 5 days. The URS4 seats are superb for long hauls.

I don't have a fair comparison admittedly (508HP RS6, 420hp RS2 so neither are stock) but weight is a big factor. I think they're both about the same in terms of performance, with the RS6 taking a slight edge once you are getting into triple figures.

Obviously we're looking at chipped RS6 vs K26/7 hyrid RS2. I'd imagine the NA v8 vs the chipped RS2 engine in a heavier car would be close, but there's still more power under the curve on the turbo charged engine - it should make close to peak power for a large chunk of the mid/high rev range.

That said, the RS2 is well suited toward a manual box whereas the v8 and a lazy auto are a good match - and the RS6 on a motorway is very easy to drive fast, no lag and no need to gear down.
