    RS2 fuel consumption question

Could I get an idea from you all on average fuel consumption readout on average mpg readout. I seem to average 15 mpg regardless of driving style/conditions/AC use. Usually get 200 miles from full to initial low fuel warning. Sorry I have not done detailed calculation. (Seem to remember previous S2 giving 18-20 ish around town 250 miles around town. More on runs to sunny Yorkshire 23-24/ 300 ish)

The car has had new sparks and MAF in last 18 months. New air/fuel filter/ thermostat since I got it last summer. No fault codes at previous service and no change in fuel use during my ownership.

No evidence of Xs fuel use except some black sooting of tailpipes. Runs well

Is this the norm or should I be replacing lambda sensor ??

The car is going in before Xmas for new exhaust cat back replacement to cure the dreaded baffle rattle on power lift off. so it would be a good time to sort.

The readout on mine is always around 18.5mpg.
I do largely short trips with only one or two journeys lasting more than 30minutes each week. I don't usually hang around but always get 250miles between a fill up and when the light comes on, usually then can put in close to 55 litres (55/4.546 = 12 gallons). Which in my reckoning is about 21 mpg. If I have down more longer journeys it is closer to 300 miles (25mpg). If you are putting in 55 litres and only getting 200miles this is about 16.6mpg, so you are 4 mpg worse than me.
So I guess Doug is right about the lambda.

At a steady cruise speed of 100 MPH i make about 13,5 to 14,5 liter/100Km
          Sorry don't know in MPG
When i say steady mean never mooving the foot and no braking or accélerating just cruising.

I average 24 mpg on the trip computer commuting in rush hour traffic so no chance to put my foot down. I get about 300 miles before the Autocheck warning light comes on & it will then take about 55 litres to fill up. This roughly stacks up with the computer average @ 25mpg. It's more like 20mpg when I have the chance to floor it now & again.

That equals about 19.5 - 21 mpg, which sounds about right for an RS2 at 100mph.

Mine is reading 14.7 mpg ! But having a massive untraceable boost leak is causing this.

Roll on the day Lee's pressure kit falls on my doormat ! I cannot wait ! I am getting used to the Rs having about 150 hp now !
DAVIDP20V - 95' Polar Silver RS2 standard 315 bhp, forge diverter valve, Mark H mod and boost gauge..... and shes for sale.

I am too scared to look at the fuel trip computer! Most of my driving is hooning down A and B roads plus a bit of motorway and city stuff. I generally fill up with Opti once the yellow warning light stays on constantly and average around 18mpg. I felt a bit guilty about the hole in the ozone layer that is appearing above Edinburgh with all the RS2's and tried to squeeze the maximum no. of miles from a tank - driving with massive refrain and boredom I managed 364 miles before just making it to Dreghorn to fill up. 59.8 litres worked out at 27mpg which is most respectable but I could'nt go through the boredom again!

@RSBLURS2 - Do you live/work in Edinburgh? There are not many around - I see Alg's polar one occasionally, a red RS2 in Edinburgh, a dark green one in Dunfermline, and just recently a RS blue one has been parked at my work a couple of times - is that you? I couldn't tell you the reg as it was that dirty!

In addition, Doug, there is a blue RS2 near work on the south side, another in East Lothian and one on the north side. Never seen the red one

Doug, where do you work? It sounds like mine which is absolutely filthy just now and I can't be bothered cleaning it because there is so much muck on the roads. I was thinking yesterday that it would be ideal for going through speed cameras! I do prefer it clean and polished rather than the rs blue front and volcano black back end. I think there are 4 blue ones in and around Edinburgh, I saw a green one at Dalmahoy recently, Al's silver one and only one LHD among them. 5 RHD in one city this size is a pretty good percentage of the country's allocation although still quite rare!
