Or not working properly? The answer is yes. The stock by-pass or diverter valve (Audispeak ="Over-run cut-out") (regardless, it is not a "dump" valve) is intended to help keep the turbo spinning when the throttle valve is closed during normal shifting. Without the BPV, the turbo will tend to slow down or stop (stall) during a shift, resulting in a loss of power when you come back onto the throttle.

The installation of an atmospheric dump valve would make the car run like ****.

Or are you talking about the original diverter valve? It can leak air from the pressure side.

Picture doesn't work. Sounds like you've installed the wrong type of dump valve. Put in a stock unit and it'll work properly. If you're after noise then get an adjustable one like those from GFB

Apologies. Picture is so dark, I can't see what's what.

To instal OE valve properly, boost pipe should be on the side, base should vent to inlet hose and the top nipple must connect to the im via a small vacuum line.
