Sport quattro head washers for ARP head studs

Just thinking about these and found this thread on a search. Sounds like the SQ washers are NLA, so I wanted to know what alternatives there are and if there is an off the shelf solution? If not then dimension of the SQ washers would be most useful and I'll get a quote for a batch

It was only a matter of time wasn't it. I'm sure there will be an off-the-shelf solution somerwhere if we get some dims and material. I have a couple of fastener specialists down the road that I deal with through work if that's any help

Anyways, I'll take a set to keep in stock for futures if it ends up that you need to get some made Andy

Otherwise the normal ARP washers sink into the soft aluminium head

You can use the standard washers with the arp's. The real issue is that the ones that arp supply are tiny, and do sink in. The standard ones are better, and the sq ones are a belt and braces ideal approach. This is my understanding after looking into it when my engine was built up.

The standard washers don't fit. I tried it. I know people advise not to but I used the arp ones. Are they really that bad?

Glad to hear it. I have heard the stories of the washers sinking but have also heard of them being ok... Wonder why some ruin and some don't???

How do you know you've never had a problem? you only notice this after you you remove the ARP if you need to remove the head.

People can have this problem and not know about it as the head has been bolted down and it's never taken off again

We did this on mine and Tonks did not see any issues with the ARP bolts and washers. That was 100K kms after my second engine rebuild

and i have not opened again...i only know that still works perfectly.
