Is this normal?

My fuelpump sounds fine right after startup everytime from cold but after e few minutes it starts to make sounds and twitch every other second. It's kind of a whining sound for half a sec.
Is something clogging the hose from the fueltank so it runs dry or is it that motronic is telling the pump to rest every other second because the engine has enough fuel already? This is only on idle, can't hear the pump when pushing the throttle because of missing exhaust.
I know the old original pump kept pumping all the time but that was with original KV engine and mechanical injection. Now i have 3B engine and Motronic ECU with 3B harness.
I have run new power and ground and relayed the FP because there was a constant burning of the FP fuse after i installed the new FP, the fuse now holds when the new wires are run from the battery, but the old signal wire is still in use, could the signal wire be shortening every other second causing this behavior and the previous fuse-burn?
Thanks - Tobias.
