oil pressures

Just want to check something with you other owners.

My car takes a while to build oil pressure when cold,approx 10-15 seconds.Also it wont get pressure on a hot start unless you give it a few revs(over 2500 sees presurre build)
It makes 5bar + when it does get pressure cold,and has good pressure when warm(1 bar at idle,then adding about 1 bar per 1000rpm).

It has genuine filter and 10w 60 oil. Just checking this is normal behavour,before i start panicking.

dosin't sound too healthy! What oil filter you have?
10w60 is thick.....1bar at hot idle....pretty low with this oil.
i had 2 bar with this oil in hot condition...but gauges are not all the same though.

I think idle oil pressure after a while should sit at 2 bar (at least mine does), I'm not sure on the oil, 10w60 sounds kind of thick, I'm using 10w50 myself.

5bar on cold start up.
2 bar idle warmed up.
Driving 5bar-4bar depending on throttle position.

Running 10w 40 I think will edit

Im using STACK gauge. Genuine audi filter.

Possibly ill put a new oil pump.

I have a problem with my oil pressure too. Engine AAN - Audi B2.
My gauge shows 5 bar on cold start up and 1.5 bar idle with hot oil and then comes warning light. Maybe there is a problem with pressure gauge sender?

Have you tested the pressure with a proper gauge plumbed directly into the block? Could just be a faulty sender, one bar on hot idle is OK as long as it picks up quickly with revs as you describe. Is the 1.4 bar @ 2000 RPM switch plugged into a working warning light?

Its a stack gauge and sender. I trust it.
Im running a emerald ecu so no stock lights bongs ect.

Im confident with the pressures,just thinking it takes a little long to build. It does build to well over a bar and half at 1200 rpm.
Its probably because of the 10w60 and cold temps outside.

Audi says that the pressure on stop at 2000 RPM must be higher than 3 BAR.
@Drummer 2 bar idle warmed up. -Maybe with a new oil pump.

Thought 2 bar on idle when car has warmed up is the normal.

Well if you have 5W40 it's OK. If you have thicker oil like 10W60 I don't think it looks that good.

I have 2 Audi S2, one with 230.000 km (142.000 miles)and I've just rebuilt the complete engine (but the oil pump is the old one) and it makes 1.5 BAR at idle with hot engine ( water temp right after the 90 degree mark and oil at 90 degree).
The other S2 is a 3B with 120.000 km (75.000 miles) thus I think it has a better oil pump.
In similar conditions it makes 1.7 BAR at idle with oil BMW 5W30 and 2.0 BAR with Castrol 10W60.

If I remember good, I have 5W40.
I'll try to test the pressure with a proper gauge, I hope my sender is faulty
