  • RTH: ECU fully blown?? fuse 27.

    Hi gurus..

I might have f..ked up my ecu, didnt use the car this winter, so now when i want to get it going again i cant get it started. (lot of moisture in the car though)

found out that it keeps blowing fuse no. 27 - Engine Timing I.

disconnected the ECU. no fuses blown.

pulled the ECU apart, couldnt find no obvious faults like corrosion etc.
    pulled out my multimeter and got continuity between;

    18 +12V battery feed, via Fuse S27.
    and
    14 Ground #2 (0V) - Inlet manifold
    19 Ground #3 (0V)
    24 Ground #4 (0V)

    30 0V Reference Signal - F96 , G42 , G61 ,G62, G66, G69
48 Reference point for engine speed and crankshaft position sensors - G4 , G28

obviously it is shorted somewhere.. but anyone got any ideas what i should do???

Yes, I know what to do.

You overvolted your ECU. Bad jump cable or batter charger?
There must be over 24V for this to happen.

I don't have a 3B ECU here and I don't have schematic for 3B ECU, so I can't tell you directly what you need to replace.

If you send it here, I can fix it...
Or if you send hi-res pictures I can probably walk you through it.

        PM me.

To confirm that (somewhat), there have been several cases over here in NAmerica that people have killed their UrS4/S6 ECUs while incorrectly getting a jump start. I have advocated for NOT using any jumper cables. Either charge the battery (I use the (+) and (-) posts under the hood (bonnet) (that we in NAmerica got, not sure about UK and Europe)) or swap in a newly charged battery, never jump start (just to be super safe).

            Your mileage may vary.
