S4 Quattro original Audi Motorsport stage 2 engine modification (205kW)

    Hi All,

There is a 1994 S4 Quattro with the original factory Audi Motorsport stage 2 engine modification (205kW) for sale. Still in original condition!!

Can this be used as a donor car for an upgrade to my S2?

I was told the turbo is the same as the RS2 a K24 7200. I am also told that Audi fitted the same RS2 ECU with upgraded factory software and injectors.

I am not sure about the inlet manifold, intercooler or the air box but I was told they could also be used.

I would also be looking to use the brake set up again I was told they are better than the S2 brakes.

Can anybody advise if this information is correct and would it be a good upgrade to do?

I am assuming that all the parts are in a good condition

Can you please give us some more info and pics of this car? I have never heard of it unless it´s a SMS motorsport uppgraded car or MTM. I really highly doubt that Audi themselves gave out a 205kw engine. And if so, it,s only a chipped car as 205kw it 278bhp....

      Hi fish,

I am unable to post pictures.

Send me your email address and I will email you all the data and pictures.

Looks like I may have missed the deal I am the second person that is willing to buy it.

The person who has it now is the second owner purchase 12 months from new complete with full service history.

This is only the second one I have seen in South Africa.

        Some misinformation going on there,
why would it have an RS2 turbo capable of 380hp and
        only be making 275 HP ? ( 1 kilowatt = 1.34102209 HP )

Also the RS2 ecu is basic the same as the ABY bar the MAP sensor,
1 resistor and software and you would not need bigger injectors than
        stock for 274 HP either.

To me this sounds like a chipped, standard set-up being passed off as something special, either way £200 gets you this performance from any stock AAN/ABY S4/S2
        thus not worth bothering with.

From what I can see from the picture of the registration book there is an orange sticker that states.

          VEHICLE DATA
          CAUTION
Please be aware that this vehicle has been fitted with a Factory engine kit

          The page also shows

I know dealers installed MTM kits, e.g. Stage 1 (chips only), Stage 1+(chips and 3 Bar MAP sensor), Stage 2 and Stage 3.

Stage 2 program for the AAN involved an RS2 exhaust manifold, a 3 Bar MAP sensor (like the RS2 ECU has), stock injectors and, I think, the RS2 turbo. Stage 3 added the RS2 injectors and different software.

I just went to a website that had this info to link here to confirm and the website is dead. (WHY OH WHY DIDN"T I CAPTURE THE CONTENTS YEARS AGO??). Hmmm....I wonder if I did and squirrelled it away....

Anyway, the Stage 2 program should be viewed in the context that the MTM Stage 3 for the AAN was 335 hp (not 380 hp like we know of the Thomas Schmaltz software, etc.)

That VIN is extremely interesting. If possible, I would love to see a photo of the build sticker (like this one):

The bad news is I didn't save the info. However, I did find these two bits that might help (or not):

              1. A Rallye Racing Jan. 92 artcile about MTM's upgrades for the UrS4 (in German)

              2. A listing of MTM RS2 upgrades (mostly to show that they were very conservative in their program) (I might have got the list from someone here, I don't remember)

The "PU" in the VIN = 1993 model year, built at the Uitenhage VW/Audi plant, near Port Elizabeth on the South African Cape.

On this basis, the start of the VIN should be ZAA where ZA = South Africa.

Normal UrS4/S6 VINs start with WAU = W = West Germany (now just Germany), A = Audi, U = passenger vehicle.

                  The 4A = C4 so the UrS4 was the 2066th C4 (100s and UrS4s got lumped together, UrS4 = Audi 100 S4).
