400mile round trip to Chester. 30 miles from home when this happened.
Car completely lost all motive power. Won't go, won't re-start.
Electrics seem fine, sparks on spark plugs, engine turns over on starter motor. No overheating apparent, fuel just about to nudge the red last 1/4 on the fuel guage, range left 85 miles. (was driving very conservatively!)
Checked voltage running all the way to the fuel pump.
No prior sounds of whining from the fuel pump.
Any clues? Could it be the fuel pump? Blocked fuel line? The ECU gone bonkers?
Whilst I was being towed back, my garage rang their parts supplier who said that a new S2fuel pump (assuming that's what has failed) was on a 2-week delay from Germany? Can this be true?

the part in question on that thread is part number 034 905 161 @ £101+vat from the dealers and 70.31+ from us. Audi do indeed refer to it as the hall sender. One of the guys on here ghad it changed recently, the cam pulley did not have to come off to change it, so that makes it quite easy to change.
unless the problem WAS no fuel to fire with?? I do love logic... if the engine will spark but won't fire AT ALL! even badly, then surely it must be fuel related as there is nothing to ignite? no??? I'm no expert...
and I'm sure Martyn has too
Can't you get them if they're on back order Martyn? and I'm sure your price is cheaper.
yes, I could get it faster, a week tops. I can only match the price (and then delivery) not beat it. The price is really low! See who you come upwith Ben, as Dan will no doubt need it yesterday etc. Worth checking the fuse for sure and relay!!
ops:
, the boot was full of food and drink, and it was boiling hot. Is my car super efficient or what
