    Cam cover gasket

Hi all, i need to change the cam cover gasket on my S2 and have been looking at the job, so do i need to remove the intake manifold on an ABY engine to do this or can the rear bolts be got at with a short Allen key?. I want to make sure i have everything i need before i take it apart, thanks, Simon.

You definitely don't need to take the IM off, it's quite an easy job really. There's a good guide here.

PN for the cam cover gasket set (including the five OOOOO rings for the spark plug wells and the two half-moons) is 034198025F (Item 17 in the diagram below). Beware the "gotcha" studs (Items 19) that also have to be removed to remove the cam cover. Also be aware that Items 15 and 16 are different lengths and go in specific places.

When installing the half-moons, some people use an RTV sealant to keep them in place and seal them to the head.
