Where to find fire trap on 3b? (Idle related)

I have a theory that my poor idle is caused by a clogged PCV, so I'm taking it off and cleaning it this weekend. I could find some writeups on the ABY, but none on the 3b.

The reason for my theory is that the car had the same idle with my 7A engine (low hot idle, 550 rpm), and the only parts ive used over is parts of the PCV system.

It has a new coolant temp sensor in the head and a good working ISV. The only other reason I can think of is a leaking DV.
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.

The flame trap will be found in the pipe between 4a and where the item number 1b is on the picture above on the 3b system

Looking at that picture again the 3b one is shown as item 5a but that's not where I found mine . Looks like mine is in the wrong place.

Looking at that picture, I'm not sure what version of the system I have. Doesn't look like mine at all.

Does my theory even make sense to you guys?

If your theory is vacuum leaks, from whatever source, cause idle problems, then yes, your theory makes sense.

By the way, in my experience the idle should be around 800 RPM.

A vacuum leak will give a high hot idle. Not a low hot idle.

Try cleaning out the throttle body.
