    egr cleaning

Sorry for this guys....but...somebody knows a method to clean the intake and head from the carbon build'up caused by the stupid thing called EGR?
I have removed the entire intake....but...at the head i am stuck....how to clean inside the head without removing'it.
Is unbelivable how much crap i found there in 130k km.
    the intake was 50% blocked....
    Thank You!

yeah they make a right mess - i had to clean up my old A6 avant AJM and ended up just removing the IM, EGR/TB and working with a Wynns specific cleaner (forget the name though) Also if you have VVT turbo, worth cleaning that out too and ensuring it moves freely too

If it's as bad as you say I wouldn't try cleaning the head on the car, too much risk of stuff dropping into the engine. I'd take the head off and take it to an engine shop with a 'hot tank'.

I remove'd all...and cleaned everything i could reach...but...the intake ports from the head? I was thinking to turn the engine untill i know the intakes are closed and spray some cleaner and wipe what i can there...but..i thought that, maibe, there is an better option, not only for cleaning, for maintaining also.
        Thank You for reply's!

Anyone any thought's on blanking of the EGR valve? I recall reading about it somewhere, I take it that a S2 with a decat RS2 exaust would more than likely never pass the emmisions if you blanked it off???

You bock the EGR but the ECU won't be happy . So you neeed to cancel EGR from ECU.
Eugen's method with closed valve and with cleaning is ok . I don;t have another one in mind right now.

L.E.: DO you have an Engine code ?

Get manifold off,put diesel in it and burn it.After that get some metal chain or anything in it and clean the burned material.Check for flatness and if necessary reface it(to head and to egr etc).I spend 1 day trying to clean a 2.5 tdi 700.000 km manifold with all kind of products, brushes etc.On the inside no chance. After the fire all was like new.

Is an Opel 1.7 CDTI. Z17DTL engine. I dont want to remove the head....will be much better if i could blank off and keep the light off. I tryed but...the ecu is going to limp mode. I dont know how this ecu check for egr flow....as the temp sensor is in the maf.
At the old Y17dt i could blank the egr without problems..but at this no...
Sounds like i need an remap with egr delete...
