    I've got smoke....

.... its fine on cold start, doesn't smoke when accelerating, or decelerating in gear (even at high rpm), but it gently smoulders at warm idle and gives a grey 'puff' when pulling away...

Its all pretty much original except Miltek & Map.

Any thoughts? I've got a couple, but I want a second opinion.

Could it be turbo maybe? I think mine is leaking a bit of oil so am looking at options...

I think that could be turbo. It started one day to another?

Bless, I thank you folk, and love this forum... I'm Annual Leave next week, and job number one is clean out the PCV system, (I've already downloaded UrS4's threads and related info on the PCV...)

I'm hoping this is it, as the car used to do a lot of motorway work, but as, for the last 3 years, dropped right off to a 3 mile each way station commute and the odd thrash...

That said, turbo oil seals at 140k isn't unreasonable either...

I'll clean out the tubes first, see how we go...

Thank you folk... You really are stars

Hmmm... If its the turbo, with a standard kkk24' is there a "cough", an 'upgrade' option as a direct swap

Ask David S2driveruk what he thinks of his, I got it upgraded for him when I rebuilt his engine. Bigger cold side wheel and (cant remember dimensions) I think it was a 3 degree cut back on the exhaust wheel.

It felt very strong at just 1 bar.

Yep continues to feel strong I'll dig the detail out but the cutback sounds right. I'm hoping that I'll get it mapped with Automark later this year and get it optimised.

Now I have to time/life back, I really must document the build Darren

Well I'm looking at either a working used item if the price is right to keep me going until I am do what I want, a hybrid rebuild or an out and out swap and new manifold... I have a mate who says he will tell me what I need and help with all the work, matching and making items work together with new flanges and downpipes etc.

Will keep you informed Ian as we both jab very similar, almost identical cars.

Hope you figure it out too bud

Superb, thanks folk, if it is the turbo it'll be shipped off to either universal or turbo dynamics, I'd just like a standard fitment with, if possible, a bit more 'blow' if that makes sense.

David's is standard fitment with more blow, it's all internal. Craig is your man at CR Turbos, used to be at TD I followed him to CR.
