And I've BTDT with about six of these and all ran out at 380hp, relayed or not.

That is noisy, you have to ensure the pickup basket isnt making contact with the bottom of the tank, and also the output hose from the pump isnt hitting the side of the tank or it will resonate like a drum. Having said that yours sounds like a bad pump with a noisy bearing to me.

Generally vs stock pumps i find the 044 pumps quieter inside the car, to the point of being inaudible. But more noticeable outside the car. If anything i find the zzzzzt noise of the original pump way more annoying.

Inside the cabin it is completely silent now.

Before it was properly secured with anti vibration mounts, I had terrible noise inside the car, which changed pitch depending on how the petrol was positioned in the tank and how much of it there was. Drove me up the wall.

I won't disagree that the pump is prone to vibrating and thus creating noise, but I will also say that nine out of ten times people complaining about it being noisy is due to incorrect mounting...
Lou, as for your car, I don't recall anymore. But keep in mind that I am used to mapping loud high power cars, so I rarely complain about noise. A lot more noticeable in my RS4 which is quite silent though.
Mine are quite noisy in the cabine.

The owners referred to them as "k-jet pump", I don't have any more info, as I removed them and fitted 044's & 040's instead which instantly solved high load fuel starvation.

I never had any noise problems with my 10 bar 044. Sure if you stuck your head in the boot while it's working you can hear a slight reassuring buzz.

I used to have a car with no interior trim and an electric pump where the back seat was. It used to scare the crap out of some of my passengers, thinking my car had a wasps' nest in it or something.
Once we got moving they had something else to scare them, so they soon forgot about the wasps.
