    Oil pick up locking plate

Does anyone not have a locking plate installed on the oil pick up? I've lost mine and forgot about it, just remebered after fitting the sump for the second time

There wasn't on fitted on the AAN I am rebuilding, I was surprised as the engine has never been opened. I would fit one for peace of mind, or at least some loctite on the bolts

The ACV block I'm using didn't have one either when I opened it up. I did however use high strength Loctite on mine when assembling. I will most likely remove the lot again so I can get the oil pump off for an inspection after reading a thread on a new pump that was found with grit in it, so will get to place that locking plate on then.

I think the locking plate was superceeded by those locking bolts, certainly my ABY engine didnt have the plate.

Interested in a link to that oil pump thread. Was thinking of reusing a good aby one but will inspect it first. Are tdi ones any use?

Not sure if you can use the TDi pump, don't see why not though.

I pulled apart a TDI pump last night which that and the block I'm using was from a 2001 transporter. I can't see anything different & will keep it as spare. It says Korea on the front as well though.

Question about the 3B pump. I bought a new one and it arrived with the roller attached to it. Is that able to removed easily? I tried to pull on it gently but it wasn't budging

That's it. I plan on using an NG tensioner instead and need this out of the way.

You need to pull of with a bolt, I think I used a drive bolt. There are threads on the roller and it pulls of .

I'll shove a bolt in there and have another go at it today.

Mine wasn't new so I used a bit of everyone's advice here to get it off.
But hopefully yours will pop off easy.
