    Holset Journal Bearing Material

Hey guys, I have a holset super 40, and bought a rebuild kit for it. However looks like my journal bearings are one of for my turbo. Looks like the housing has been bored out from the previous owner possibly during rebuilt. I can't seem to find any journal bearing meeting my size which are a width of .385-.388, the I.D is .431 (which is standard on the Hx35-Hx40-Super 40), and the O.D is a .7045-.705 roughly (Stock it is .6215). Does anyone know where i can purchase this size or who makes custom? If not

Does anyone know what type of material to use to make these? (I believe it is brass? what type), I will have to machine them myself if this is the case. thanks in advance for the help

no, i have a super 40, and it must have been a custom machined bearing to have the stock shaft I.D, and a custom O.D to match the bigger housing.

I'm coming to it that these bearings are made of Alloy 544, seems to be the highest grade bronze alloy with the best strength for a bearing application

Yea that alloy 544 is a common phosphor bronze we use in oil industries rotating equipment for many bushings, bearings, wear rings as its considered 'self lubricating' with metal to metal contact.
and is very nice to machine can take few hundred thou cuts no problem with tungstan carbide tips

Super 40 and HX40 have the same bearings as the shaft has the same diameter.

Your housing needs machining? Where are you located?
