I used glycol from Aelred, only had sputter big ends. I wasn't keen on having hardened mains. If any contamination were to make it's way into the clearances, I'd rather have it bed into the bearing than the crank journal.

I've ditched the glyco ones due to the state they were in after less than 3k miles... a little surprised at the condition not impressed....

If the bearings were in a state after 3K there's a problem in your build. It won't be due to the Glyco bearings unless you were sold cheap copies.

They're in lots of high HP motors and I've abused mine for many miles without any problems.

Did you check the main tunnels for straightness / roundness and were the crank journals checked and clearanced etc?

you might have something there Steve....it wasn't like they were knackered, they just were scored a little.....

to be honest I should have checked the oilways in the block and crank before assembly so maybe another one of lifes lessons for me...

I think I'm sorted now...cheers for the tips....
