That is absolutely true, cars do need driven hard occasionally to clean them out.

I can feel it in my avant after driving it around the city for a few weeks, it starts to feel stuffy and hesitate in the midrange. All it needs is a good blast down the motorway for 40-50 miles and it goes noticeably better the following week.

The old Volvo 760's used to suffer from carbon build up and the fix the dealers were given was to sit at motorway speed at 5000rpms for 15 minutes.

The track day probably gave your waste gate a good workout and now you are getting correct boost control.

I think it's a combo of terraclean followed by two 15 min track sessions, on my way to work I usually blast up the slip road in second gear, and end up hitting the A14 at around 75mph today the car wanted to do it in third and was doing 100mph!!! I'm loving this new speed it's fecking addictive lol

I've experienced this in my S4 B5 when thrashing it some on a night. I asked on the AudiSRS forum about it and got reply that it was the throttle valve map changing a bit and I also got a reply from Mihnea that it was a function in the Motronic but he hadn't found a solution for it back then. Maybe this older Motronic also has some kind of adaptive function.

A change like this is not normal. I'd want to know what caused such a change. Get a boost gauge on it first and read the codes. No point thrashing it with a problem present and end up breaking something expensive...

with both above and I am 100% sure this is not down to the "Terraclean"

I've flushed my fuel system through with a product that says it restores power and I've had a lot of power restored, I don't get the logic that everyone thinks that I now have a problem, surely I had a problem and de coking my engine fixed it!!!

It can't be bad to stick a boost gauge in the car though?

Its the fact that you have reported a massive increase in power and more noise from the wastegate, indicating you are making much more boost than before which has got nothing to do with getting the fuel system cleaned. If you had said this happened immediately after having the cleaning done then maybe, but you said it was noticed after a track session so IMHO the two are not related just coincidental
